Trip Summary

Lesotho

The Kingdom of Lesotho is a tiny but beautiful country hidden high in the mountains above South Africa which boasts a rich cultural heritage and dramatic scenery, including some of the highest waterfalls in the world. A hidden gem, Lesotho is quietly developing a reputation as a destination for adventure tourists thanks to its stunning scenery and activities like hiking, pony-trekking and even skiing. You’ll experience the rich history of this proud nation with lessons in language and customs and visits to sacred cultural sites.

Lesotho also one of the poorest countries in the world and suffers from one of the highest HIV/Aids infection rates on the planet. Almost 25% of the population is HIV positive and over 130,000 children have been orphaned by the disease, which has had a devastating impact on family and community structures and held back the nation’s economic development. You’ll join local non-profit organization Kick4Life as they use soccer to help support orphans and vulnerable children and give them the chance of a better future.

South Africa

Regularly voted one of the world’s most beautiful cities, Cape Town is a bustling metropolis located on the Atlantic coast of South Africa. Cape Town possesses one of the most iconic skylines in the world, from the misty summit of Table Mountain down to the sophistication of the ultra-modern V&A Waterfront and the golden beaches of Camps Bay. Whilst here you’ll visit sites of incredible historical significance both for South Africa and the world such as Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned alongside other freedom fighters against the apartheid regime. You’ll also visit Table Mountain (climb it or tale a cablecar – its up to you!) and experience some of South Africa’s best cuisine, as Cape Town is one of the world’s most multicultural cities and famed for its fantastic restaurants.
